Surface
It’s better to start out getting used to good supplies and choose 100% cotton paper. For example, like the one we’re using in the course – Saunders Waterford (Canson Watercolor, Arches), with a weight of 300 gsm. Our works will not be large, so one full sheet of 56 by 76 cm will be enough.
Media
A set of professional watercolors. We were using a White Nights set (36 colors), but, for this course, even 12 colors will be enough, maybe even just a few pans (indigo, cobalt blue, Naples yellow, mars brown and chromium oxide).
Brushes:
- a wide flat brush for wetting the paper (either synthetic or natural – it doesn’t matter)
- a squirrel brush with a big belly and a sharp point (for example, Roubloff No. 6)
- a detail synthetic brush (for small details and a few ‘tricks’)
Additional
- support board
- palette
- masking tape
- graphite pencil (B-2B)
- eraser
- water bowls
- paper tissues
